The Maintenance Lead position provides technical leadership and direction to the maintenance teams responsible for repair of conveyors; ovens; electrical; plumbing; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); carpentry; painting; and other building systems. In the absence of Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Team Lead handles day to day operations and associated documentation.

You’ll be excited about this opportunity because....

  • Oversees progress of daily, weekly and monthly maintenance events for their assigned area. Ensure the timely completion of all tasks whether it is scheduled preventive maintenance, project, or emergency work orders
  • Successfully directs tasks from start to finish through a project involving multiple departments, 3PL's, and vendors
  • Monitor and advise management of the current status of work in progress and any problems or concerns that arise
  • Researches and evaluates current maintenance process/procedures, manufacture service bulletins, and equipment incident history to facilitate development of solutions and improve overall equipment reliability
  • Assists with the planning and preparation of training and orientation for new maintenance team members
  • Must be willing to work weekends, odd work weeks, and variable shifts
  • Works with maintenance manager to plan work priorities, obtain necessary supplies, and assess skills needed to complete tasks
  • Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed. Assesses building systems to plan work assignments
  • Work with entry level associates as well as higher levels of management
  • Work with engineering and project management to ensure the consistency and reliability of equipment to be used when upgrading an existing system or installing a new system
  • Determines the most effective way to utilize available labor hours to achieve maximum efficiency. Approved vendors and contractors will be considered in this decision-making process
  • Performs quality assurance audits of maintenance activities, tools and equipment. Ensure tools needed for each job are available and in good working order at the beginning of a task. Verify all equipment and tools are returned to their assigned location in good working condition
  • Estimate the labor, parts, and materials required to perform work described on generated work orders Ensure the availability and readiness of all requirements prior to commencement of work.
  • Develop bill of materials for the CMMS planning system so Material Requisition Plan can provide the materials and parts required for specific work order. Verify parts and materials readiness in advance of the job’s scheduled start time
  • Collaborates with team members to discuss upcoming work assignments; delegates assignments based on team members’ skills and experience
  • Clearly and concisely describe complex issues to others in order to provide context for needed repairs
  • Assists team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments
  • Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed safely, effectively, and in a timely manner
  • Inspects work performed by team members
  • Work with local county/municipal officials in an emergency
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least five years of maintenance experience required
  • Must possess an in-depth understanding of the operating schedule of the facility they support. The facilities’ schedule must be considered when planning major repairs and/or scheduled maintenance to remove or reduce work related impact to operations. e.g., power outages, excessive noise, construction debris, traffic disruptions
  • Makes decisions with limited information and understands subsequent impact of decisions to the business
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Computer proficiency, able to maintain a data base of parts on hand and needed. Firm working knowledge of excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, and CMMS required. Can utilize Excel tools (pivot tables) and navigate ordering in Oracle. Can navigate multiple websites for parts, materials, manuals, etc
  • Extensive knowledge of building (such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC), conveyor, and oven systems
  • Able to read/understand technical prints (mechanical and structural blueprints, electrical schematics)
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to identify issues and to determine repairs that are needed
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules for building systems
  • Excellent communication skills and use of discretion regarding sensitive information
