    • Large package / furniture distribution centers located in Southern California, Northern California, Texas, Georgia, and New Jersey totaling 9.2M square feet plus another 1.2M square feet of standalone final-mile furniture hubs.
  • Small package eCommerce distribution centers located in Mississippi and Arizona totaling 3.2M square feet, consisting of over 1,000 full-time associates and 1,500 seasonal/temporary associates in Mississippi

The Director of Safety will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and injury management programs across our Supply Chain, Logistics, and Manufacturing network. This role ensures that operational leaders are equipped with the necessary information, tools and training to foster a safety-first culture.

You’ll be excited about this opportunity because you will....

  • Design and execute a proactive safety strategy across all distribution centers, warehouses, transportation hubs, and manufacturing plants. 
  • Integrate safety best practices into daily operational workflows, peak-season planning, and equipment and material handling protocols. 
  • Partner with Operations leadership to embed a safety culture into performance management, KPIs, and team training. 
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and local/state occupational health regulations for WSI and Third-Party Contractors. 
  • Oversee safety programs and audits related to powered industrial truck use (PIT), ergonomics, conveyor and automation safety, hazardous materials, and machine guarding. 
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective action plans. 
  • Establish safety teams within each location.
  • Serve as a safety liaison to the corporate Worker’s Compensation claims team
  • Leverage safety management information system (SMIS) and BI tools to track incidents, claims, and trends. 
  • Report monthly and quarterly safety metrics to executive leadership, identifying areas of concern and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Implement predictive analytics to reduce incident frequency and optimize claim outcomes. 
  • Office and facility-based; regular travel (up to 40%) to distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and distribution hubs.
  • Occasional evening or weekend support during peak periods or critical incident response.

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Lead and develop a national team of safety professionals.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with human resources, legal, operations, and facilities to drive integrated safety and injury prevention efforts. 
  • Provide coaching and support to distribution and manufacturing teams. 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 

  • DART rate
  • Workers’ compensation cost per claim 
  • % of associates completing safety training 
  • % of facilities with safety audits closed on time 

Check out some of the required qualifications we are looking for in amazing candidates….

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
  • At least 5 years of safety leadership experience in a logistics, manufacturing, or warehouse environment 
  • Prior experience leading a multi-site safety program, preferably within a high-volume distribution or 24/7 manufacturing operation
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and state WC laws and regulations 
  • Strong operational acumen and the ability to integrate safety into production and logistics operations 
  • Proven experience working with automation, material handling equipment, and high-volume labor environments 
  • Data-driven mindset with strong reporting and presentation skills 
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels

  • Ability to walk, stand, and move about on foot for extended periods across construction sites, warehouses, and facility grounds
  • Must have the ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility vests
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, dust, and noise
