Description

SUMMARY:

The Transportation Manager role is responsible for managing all areas of inbound/outbound shipping to and from the Claremont, NC facility. This will include planning inbound freight from domestic vendors and ensuring all inbound vendors follow WSI vendor compliance guidelines. Also responsible for execution of outbound shipment to DCs and furniture hubs. Serve as liaison between the distribution center, manufacturing facility and yard management providers.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee all transportation activities associated with domestic vendor inbound into Claremont, NC.

  • Assist in all transportation activities associated with Claremont, NC outbound furniture line-haul into our furniture delivery hubs.

  • Convert inbound vendors that are not currently utilizing WSI’s transportation network.

  • Manage inbound/outbound carrier pickup and delivery performance. Assist in manage trailer pool requirements and trailer loading/unloading schedules.

  • Update and maintain inbound/outbound metrics

  • Assist in other furniture planning across the network as needed

  • Yard management including drivers, dispatch operations, and yard audits

  • Invoice auditing

  • Manage rental trailer pool and offsite trailer parking

  • Assist with management of DOT regulations as they apply to company-employed drivers

  • Maintain local users in Yard Management System

  • Oversee local dispatch operations

  • Drive cost and process improvement initiative.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or Engineering
  • Leadership experience in a transportation, distribution or supply chain role
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and lead projects to closure
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work independently
  • Proficient in analysis tools such as MS Office, QlikView, or other business intelligence tools.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent Analytical, Technical, and Presentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience negotiating and administering LTL, IM and TL contracts

  • Previous experience with network design, logistics engineering, and TMS (Transportation Management Systems)
