JOB SUMMARY:
The successful Assistant General Operations Manager provides leadership, guidance, and direction to the managers and associates in the assigned departments in order to encourage and gain support toward meeting corporate objectives. This position is accountable for developing tactical and strategic plans (on both the departmental and facility level) and constantly improving safety, service, quality and cost objectives. This position oversees activities of multiple departments and has multiple Operations Managers as direct reports.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must exhibit exceptional leadership skills and possess the following:

- Ability to develop, monitor and achieve financial plans and budgets
- Manage projects under aggressive time and dollar constraints
- Operate in a manner that ensures peak productivity and corporate profitability
- Manage and develop systems, processes and procedures to maintain inventory accuracy
- Maintain consistency and reliability in distribution processes
- Report building or departmental results
- Measure results through developing spreadsheets, graphs and visual aides
- Ensure staffing levels support volume by department; review and analyze the prior day's activities in the Labor Management System
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure overall operational success
- Hire, train, mentor and develop team members in order to assist with professional growth and development
- Identification and analysis of root causes of key performance indicators in order to mitigate future occurrences
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships at multiple levels in order to work cross organizationally toward solutions; excellent leadership and consensus building skills
- Ability to drive continuous improvement in productivity, cost control, service, inventory accuracy, housekeeping and safety
- Responsible for achieving efficiency and production objectives consistent with quality requirements
- Motivates team to work together in the most efficient manner
- Proficient in WMS systems and how they relate to inventory control and accuracy
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Engineering or related area
- 4+ years of progression in a high volume - highly automated distribution environment.
- Technical experience in warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to delegate and manage projects and activities in a time sensitive environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional ability to deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations to all levels
- Quality certification a plus
- Furniture experience is preferred
