Senior Lead
$25.00 per hour


Williams-Sonoma is looking for a dynamic Distribution Center Senior Lead to work across multiple departments leading associates to complete tasks assigned by Operations Managers. Ensuring tasks and goals are completed, working with other departments to ensure proper hand off, managing metrics for high quality customer service are just some of the tasks that will need to be performed on a daily basis.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

With minimal supervision, supports Operations Manager/GM with leading a group of IB, OB, picking and putaway associates while ensuring that daily departmental goals are met through the Williams-Sonoma objectives in Safety, Service, Quality and Cost. Share business information through floor presence, suggest improvements to current techniques. Train and direct a team of associates to achieve departmental production goals in order to provide customers with the ultimate delivery experience. Control the workflow on the floor to include prioritizing team goals to ensure that deadlines are met. Track productivity, research and resolve issues, provide feedback on productivity and quality related performance.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize Williams-Sonoma's Mission, Vision, and Values to govern daily activities, including guidance to other associates on daily activities
  • Use Microsoft Office programs to create reports and generate communications to management
  • Work to support the Operations Manager plan to staff departmental functions
  • Share business information with teammates through floor presence and effective verbal and written communication
  • Promote safety awareness and cultivate the safety culture throughout the company. Adopt the 5S philosophy for maintaining a clean and safe work environment; communicate safety topics and conduct safety audits
  • Ensure availability of materials (supplies) and resources to all associates in the team, so that they can perform their duties with maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.
  • Control and maintain steady workflow on the floor by ensuring all functions within the department are staffed with adequate headcount - partner with Operations Manager and move associates around by skillset to balance the flow if necessary
  • Provide on-boarding and on the job training to all associates
  • Ensure downtime issues including systematic and mechanical are addressed as soon as they arise through the correct channels
  • Track productivity, research and resolve issues, provide feedback on productivity and quality related performance to associates, peers and Operations Managers by using departmental resources
  • Adopt and endorse continuous improvement concepts where applicable
  • Basic understanding of DTC process of Supply Chain management
  • Be able to function multiple powered industrial trucks
  • Assist in root cause analysis on issues pertaining to safety, service, quality, cost
  • Understand how to identify and build peer talent
  • In conjunction with manager write and have performance conversations
  • Develop and implement solutions to address workflow and efficiency issues
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic Inventory control principals
  • Understand waving process in terms of process development
  • Coordinate projects and associated timelines
  • Understand downstream consequences of missed Key Performance Indicators
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, Business, Marketing
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Systems savviness, with proven experience interacting with relevant systems and adopting a data-driven approach
  • Maintain Powered Industrial Truck certifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead from the frontlines and be hands on (job has very little desk time)
  • Understand and convey Key Performance Indicators
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in high volume workplaces
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification
  • Bi-lingual
