Manager-In-Training Program

JOB SUMMARY

This position is a 2-year enriching, developmental role that increases one’s operational and managerial acumen.  At the completion of the assignment, a successful candidate will move into an Operations Manager role.  The MIT will work under the guidance of the General Operations Manager to ensure that the daily departmental goals are met and assist with leading, guiding and directing a group of associates using our “People First” philosophy to achieve established goals. This program will allow for two 12-month rotational assignments featuring 7 different Business Units/Function. Locations may vary and the ability to relocate may be required based on business needs and the participant’s capabilities and interests.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Train, direct and manage a team of associates to achieve developmental and division production goals in order to provide customers with the ultimate delivery experience
  • With leadership guidance, coach, motivate, discipline and counsel associates to assist with professional growth and ensure success in the assigned role
  • Establish and promote integrity and ethics through teamwork and collaboration with associates
  • Research and resolve productivity issues by using PKMS (warehouse system)
  • Monitor performance and where necessary, coach on pace and methods- provide timely feedback on performance
  • Adhere to budget requirements and work towards obtaining departmental objectives and division goals
  • Suggest improvements to current techniques and processes- solicit opinions of team members on effectiveness of department operations to maximize productivity and achieve service levels
  • With leadership guidance, perform staffing, scheduling and maintaining accurate payroll records
  • Work effectively and cooperatively as a team with other associates and management in a fast-paced environment
  • Exhibit a strong sense of urgency and time management to meet established deadlines

 

ESSENTIAL ROTATIONS (Pick at least one)

CMO Operations

  • Learn the WSI DTC fulfillment process
  • Lead, motivate and inspire one organization of up to 40 people
  • Experience one PEAK Season

Hub Operations

  • Learn regional “white glove” furniture fulfilment process
  • Lead motivate and inspire a team of non-exempt associates
  • Experience regional logistic DTC Process

Retail Operations

  • Learn the Retail replenishment process
  • Lead Motivate and inspire a team of up to 40 people
  • Experience the new/move store stocking process

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation or Engineering
  • 3-5 years of relevant distribution or manufacturing experience
  • 2 years’ experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Explorer
  • 2 years analytical and problem-solving experience
  • 1 year of experience communicating to middle and executive level management

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA Degree (Concentration in Business, Logistics, Engineering or related area)
  • Knowledge of PKMS (warehouse system)
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese
