Primary area of focus for this position will be for the packing and shipping department on the weekday shift.  The Lead Person will ensure that daily departmental goals are met and assist Operations management with leading, guiding, and directing a group of upholstery associates in meeting the objectives of Sutter Street Manufacturing in safety, service, quality, and cost. 

The Packing/Shipping Lead position is located in Booneville, Ms.

  • Perform any duties as assigned with a positive attitude and willing spirit to assist others in the department, facility, and the organization. Always performing and acting with professional courtesy and the highest integrity.
  • Train, lead, and direct a team of associates to perform daily tasks promptly and with high standards to achieve departmental and facility production goals using documented SOPs while leading through example by performing all department takes safely, correctly, and quickly while demonstrating integrity and acting in a responsible and accountable manner.
  • Establish and promote hard work ethics through teamwork and collaboration with associates and partner with manager to coordinate team assignments and occasionally re-assign associates to other areas as necessary to maximize the productivity of the departments while ensuring quality and adhering to and complying with all safety policies.
  • Share business information and listen to teammates. Communicate with manager and other departments verbally and through required reporting while periodically checking work and coaching on productivity pace and methods.  Solicit opinions of team members on effectiveness of department operations to maximize productivity levels.
  • Develop and maintain daily/weekly productivity reports and suggest improvements to current techniques and processes.
  • Ensure each employee has the correct materials to perform their task properly while working with associates to ensure that overall cleanliness of the area is maintained throughout the shift.
  • Adhere to budget requirements and work toward obtaining departmental objectives and division goals and track all supplies and maintain inventories needed to run the department.
  • Ensure tags/tickets/rolls are correctly accounted for within the inventory system and follow system requirements for tracking materials.

Check out some of the required qualifications we are looking for in amazing candidates....

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. 
  • At least 3 years of lead experience in production of upper-end upholstered furniture manufacturing and distribution.
  • Good math and reading skills with good communication skills-oral and written and the ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to read and understand production tickets and interpret simple instructions commonly placed in a production manual.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to keep accurate records and follow documented procedures and standards and have good Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team with other associates and managers and have excellent time-management skills including ability to work independently with little supervision.  Must have a strong sense of urgency and time management to meet established deadlines.

We prefer some of these qualities as well…. 

  • Supervisory experience.
  • Basic computer skills. 
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish. 

Review these physical requirements, as they play a major part in this role….

  • Must have the ability to stand for 10-hour periods and bend and twist at waist and knees as required to load and roll furniture.
  • The associate in this position will occasionally need to lift items that weigh up to 60 pounds and frequently lift and carry items weighing 20 – 25 pounds.
