The main function of this position will be to create upholstered furniture samples from conception, inclusive of all development aspects related to upholstery.

The Product Development Specialty Upholstery Associate position is located in Claremont, NC.

  • Duplicate pieces already offered at retail for special projects
  • Produce high quality samples, built on time, using the best construction methods
  • Develop upholstered furniture for a range of price points from mid-high end
  • Make improvement accommodations for current upholstery
  • Produce samples and production that follow WSI quality standards
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and written with internal associates
  • Responsible for leading upholstery efforts for specialty installations and product selection reviews

Check out some of the required qualifications we are looking for in amazing candidates….

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in production of high-end upholstered furniture
  • Must be able to upholster, trim, complete skirt detail, assist with modifications to cutting patterns, and complete poly construction from raw materials
  • In depth knowledge of frame and poly construction preferred
  • Must possess good attention to detail and ability to work with hands
  • Ability to interpret upholstery instructions commonly placed in an upholstery manual, as well as ability to provide instruction and train individuals on proper technique
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements and sample deadlines
  • Must exhibit clear communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to keep accurate records
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and standards
  • Must have excellent time management skills, including ability to work independently with little supervision

 

We prefer some of these qualities as well….

  • 10+ years of experience in production of high-end upholstered furniture
  • Experience in an upholstery product development setting 
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to work under pressure
